Bountiful Wishes

#1-150

I really want to attend a dinner party here

Note I only said attend, as I have planned more than my share of parties lately.

So I can wear these items off of my wish list

While drinking plenty of this.

Anyone want to host and invite me? I'll provide the invitations!

Pumpkin Carvings

#1-135 Pumpkin Invitation

Autumn is my absolute favorite time of the year! I love everything about it... the cool weather, leaves changing colors, SEC football, fall fashions (particularly chocolate brown suede/leather), pumpkins, mums and the list goes on.

When planning my wedding three years ago, I really wanted to incorporate some of my fall favorites in the decor and flowers. The above photos were my centerpieces, hand-carved by David Leathers of Food Stylin. David's work is amazing! We actually use to be neighbors, as David's studio apartment was just below mine when I lived downtown on Main Street in Tupelo. I always enjoyed sitting back with a glass of wine and watching David cook us girls an occasional dinner from scratch or work his magic prepping for an event. Oh how I wish I still had those centerpieces sitting on my farm table right now!

Fabulous Fall Friday

#1-146

The weather is beautiful today and we're heading back home for my 10 year reunion this weekend. As the senior class president, I'm in charge of the weekend festivities. To be honest, I secretly wish I was heading to the mountains with Hubby like last year.

Pavillion

#1-133

Our national parks are full of splendor and beauty. Why not host your next outdoor event at a local park?

This particular design has also worked well for rustic barn parties and fall festival hayrides.

Candy Corn

#1-149I really need to learn how to make these party poms, as seen above my Martha Stewart. Better yet, I might just try to make best friends with the Queen of Party Poms in Texas.

Either way, this lil' candy corn princess would be the first on my invite list!

Edited Note: Oh no! I just realized that the etsy seller 'charity 5' no longer has an active account. She was so talented! In case the link doesn't work above and you're considering making your own candy corn costume, her description is below....

The top part of the dress is made out of the yellow and orange tulle. The bottom of the halter top goes below the hip. The skirt of the costume was made of white tulle. The whole set was made of 150 yards of tulle! The halter ribbon and candy corn detail were made of grosgrain ribbon with added fabric glitter that will not wash off. The wand was made of grosgrain ribbon and fabric sparkle, and Swarovski crystals were hot-fixed on. The headband was made of the same materials as the wand. For infants, this set can be made with a stretchable cotton headband. Set includes Tights, wand, headband, tutu skirt, tutu halter.

Tangerine & Lemon Drop

#1-147

Are you familiar with the Snippet and Ink blog? No one gives better color inspiration than Kathryn. Her story boards are always fabulous! We love how the one below coordinates so well with our fruit/floral arrangement invitation!

We love to create centerpieces using fresh fruit instead of flowers. You'll save a great deal of money by incorporating fresh fruit into floral centerpieces, as fruit typically costs much less than fresh flowers. We suggest using apples, pears, pomegranates, mini pumpkins and/or gourds for your floral arrangements this fall.

We typically use nesting vases, where one fits inside the other, and the fruit is placed between the two. Another option is to use a block of floral foam inside the vase. Wrap it in a metallic film or foil or some sheet moss to conceal the foam. Then place the fruit between the block of foam and the vase. Voila!

We love that this invite can be personalized for any sports team event.

Football season is in full force. It's hard to believe many high schools have already held their Homecoming. We're most excited about college football, SEC to be exact!

Which college team do you root for?

Mmm, Margaritas

With Cinco de Mayo on everyone's mind this week, should it be a surprise that our 1-050 Mexican Banner has been our best seller? I think not.

And speaking of margaritas... don't you just love this t-shirt by Darling Mummy?!?!

It says 'mamacita needs a margarita.'

Oh, I can't wait to see the sparkly salty rim in person next week at the National Stationery Show. Address to Impress is proud to announce that they will be exhibiting along with Darling Mummy and Hinge Towels in Booth #1730. Come check us out!

Our Story

Welcome to Address to Impress, LLC, a stationery company located in Tupelo, Mississippi. Address to Impress began as a creative outlet for Hillary Jordan and Jennifer Springer. After hearing countless remarks from friends and family searching for paper products that were both innovative and unique, Hillary and Jennifer decided to channel their creative talents and outgoing personalities to introduce a line of stationery for entertaining and personal correspondence.

Hillary and Jennifer are two young professional women driven by a strong work ethic, commitment to perfection, and passion for lively design. Address to Impress combines Hillary's background in fashion merchandising with Jennifer's “bohemian new South” artistic flair. This has proven to be the perfect combination to create a layout of designs inspired by life with a little quirky attitude!

Their journey began in 2006 when both suggested to the other that it was time to unleash their creative impulses and "go for it". And so began the late nights designing for friends and family, which led to the creation of the designs you see today. It has been an interesting journey, and not without the challenges accompanying a small business, but their willingness to succeed in bringing a paper product line to the market has brought new found friendships and exciting opportunities for the company.

Address to Impress is thrilled to join the stationery industry and looks forward to sharing its unique paper products with you.

Bursting with Color!

We have designs and pictures galore that we want to share.  However, orders come first!  Stay tuned for more exciting news and updates from Address to Impress...

The Write Way - Calling Cards

You might be surprised to learn that is is inappropriate to use your business card in a social setting. Trust me, we understand it is increasingly difficult these days to separate our business life from our personal life. When it's important to share contact information but the occasion just isn't right for a standard business card, a calling card is the perfect way to share your important contact information while expressing your individual style. Having a supply of tastefully designed personal calling cards or social business cards gives you the opportunity to decide which card is appropriate for the occasion.

For example, if you are attending an event hosted by your husband's office and happen to meet someone that you wish to follow up with socially, you would probably want to use your personal calling card with your home phone number rather than your business card. Following me? On the other hand, perhaps you determine that this is a suitable business contact and you want a follow up phone call at your office. This is a perfect occasion for the social business card. The social business card is 3 1/2" x 2" and looks just like a business card but will have only your name and your work contact phone number. It does not show your title or the name of your company.

If you want to get specific, there is a distinguishing difference between the calling card and the social business card. Though similar, these are two different items. The calling card is 2-7/8" x 2" if you are single and 3-1/8" x 2-1/4" if you are married. If you wish to have one for you and your husband together the size is 3-3/8" x 2-1/2". This joint card for you and your husband is very useful as it can also be used as a gift enclosure card.

The Write Way - Monograms

The script font (shown above on folded note) is the most popular font and typically used for females. It is fancy and all letters intertwine in a artistic manner. Initials will be in the following order: First Name Initial, Last Name Initial, Middle Name/Maiden Name Initial. The last name is the largest in the center. This font can also be used for a single fancy initial.

Monograms for Individuals

The letters for a traditional three-initial monogram are positioned in the following order, with the center initial larger than the two on either side:

First Name Initial – Last Name Initial – Middle Name Initial

For example, a monogram for Hillary Phillips Jordan will appear:
H J P

Whose Name Goes First?

So before we discuss the couple's monogram, we should first decide whose name goes first?

One of the most common mistakes when choosing the text for the front of your note card is the order in which a married couple's name appears. Below are a few examples of the correct and incorrect way to write your married names:

Correct: Hillary and Russell
Incorrect: Russell and Hillary

*A bride's name should always be printed before a groom's name. The reason for this is that she is given away to her groom and thus should be first.

Correct: Hillary and Russell Jordan
Incorrect: Russell and Hillary Jordan

*A man should never be separated from his last name. Thus when you write Russell and Hillary Jordan, the and Hillary part is separating Russell from his last name Jordan.

Correct: Mr. and Mrs. Russell Jordan
Also Correct: Mr. and Mrs. Jordan

Incorrect: Mr. and Mrs. Russell and Hillary Jordan
Also Incorrect: Mr. and Mrs. Hillary and Russell Jordan

*If using Mr. and Mrs. for titles, only the man's name should follow the titles. The first incorrect example does not work because it breaks the rule to never separate a man from his last name. While the names are in the correct order in the second incorrect example, the names do not match the order of the titles. For example, Mr. would be matched with Hillary and Mrs. would be matched with Russell. It is best to simply use both titles with the man's first and/or last name.

Monograms for Engaged Couples

For an Engaged Couple, prior to the wedding:

Generally, the woman's name comes first until they are married. After marriage, the man's is first.

Bride-Elect's First Name Initial – Groom-Elect's Last Name Initial – Groom Elect's First Name Initial

For example, a monogram for Stacey Anger and Ray Carter, whom are engaged to be married in May, will appear:
S C R

Monograms for Couples

The following Monograms for Couples are both appropriate. It is just a matter of personal preference.

The letters in a contemporary three-initial monogram for couples are typically positioned in the following order, with the center letter larger than the two on either side:

Wife's First Name Initial – Couple's Last Name Initial – Husband's First Name Initial

For example, a monogram for Hillary and Russell Jordan will appear:
H J R

The letters in a traditional three-initial monogram for couples are typically positioned in the following order, with the center letter larger than the two on either side:

Husband's First Name Initial – Couple's Last Name Initial – Wife's First Name Initial

For example, a monogram for Hillary and Russell Jordan will appear:
R J H

STATIONERY vs STATIONARY

Do you get these two confused and is there a difference?

Yes, but you are not the only one to confuse the two spellings of this homonym (words that sound the same but have different meanings). I remember learning the difference between stationary (not moving) and stationery (paper products including note cards, envelopes, etc.) and even figured out a trick to remember — the e is for envelope. Crane also claims that a common school house trick for remembering the proper spelling is to remember that station-ery means pap-er.
