Do you get these two confused and is there a difference?
Yes, but you are not the only one to confuse the two spellings of this homonym (words that sound the same but have different meanings). I remember learning the difference between stationary (not moving) and stationery (paper products including note cards, envelopes, etc.) and even figured out a trick to remember — the e is for envelope. Crane also claims that a common school house trick for remembering the proper spelling is to remember that station-ery means pap-er.
